Learners can go on motorways as part of their lessons with a fully qualified driving instructor in a dual-control car, but motorway driving is not part of the driving test. Many people pass without getting much motorway experience. Our motorway lessons cover joining and leaving, lane discipline, overtaking, following distances, smart motorway rules and building confidence at higher speeds.

If you have passed your test but still avoid motorways, we can help you build confidence with joining, leaving, lane choice, overtaking, following distances and smart motorway rules.

Pricing
We show the hourly rate so it is easy to compare, but most learners take 90-minute lessons. This gives enough time to settle into the lesson, practise in suitable areas and review the key points before the lesson ends.
Manual Lessons
90-minute lesson: £57
Daytime discount rate £36 per hour. Before 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Automatic Lessons
90-minute lesson: £60
Daytime discount rate £38 per hour. Before 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Daytime rates apply to lessons that start before 5pm, Monday to Friday. Additional discounts may be available with trainee instructors.

Can learners go on motorways?
Yes - learners can go on motorways as part of their lessons, as long as they are with a fully qualified driving instructor in a car fitted with dual controls. However, motorway driving is not part of the driving test, so many learners do not get enough practice before they pass. Our motorway lessons make sure you are properly prepared.
Why take motorway lessons after passing?
Passing your test does not automatically mean you have had much motorway experience, as it is not assessed on the test. Many newly qualified drivers find motorways intimidating. Post-test lessons give you the chance to build real confidence at higher speeds in a safe, guided environment.
What will we cover?
Joining and leaving motorways, lane discipline, following distances at speed, overtaking safely, smart motorway rules, and driving in poor weather or low visibility.
How many sessions will I need?
Most drivers feel significantly more confident after 2-3 sessions, though this varies depending on your starting point and goals.
